The Nantucket Garden Festival, taking place at 1 Rugged Road and private island gardens, benefits the Nantucket Lighthouse School, an independent day-school serving children pre-school through sixth grade through a developmentally appropriate education that engages the whole child – head, heart and hand. The Nantucket Lighthouse School has a long tradition of using gardening as a tool for teaching academic skills, while nurturing a respect for and love of nature. The Garden Festival intends not only to incorporate this concept, but also draw attention to the pleasures and satisfactions of gardening in tune with the times in which we live.
