Nantucket Lighthouse School is thrilled to be welcoming racial justice educator and author Debby Irving to Nantucket as part of our 2018/19 Educational Speaker Series. Irving, an emerging voice in the national social justice community and author of Waking up White, and Finding Myself in the Story of Race, will be joining us on Sunday, March 10th and Monday, March 11th. Combining her understanding of systemic racism, classroom teaching experience and work developing organizations, Irving seeks to create racial equity at both the personal and institutional level.
Waking Up White is Debby’s personal journey from a childhood protected by the privilege of being white to her transformative adult work as a racial justice educator, but her life’s work is a guide and exploration for all of us.
A three-part program, please find event information in the flyer above, and contact Alicia Lynn at Nantucket Lighthouse School to borrow a copy of Irving’s book.
Our Educational Speaker Series offerings are free and open to all with thanks to the generosity of the Community Foundation for Nantucket’s ReMain Nantucket Fund.
