Meet Sarah
B.A. English and Communication, Regis College
Sarah spent many years working in aquatic environments, lifeguarding, teaching swim lessons and coaching, as well as participating in athletics at a variety of levels. She sought to transition into a more land-based educational setting as her professional goals evolved, while still upholding the lessons she was able to teach through swimming and physical activity. Her introduction to Nantucket Lighthouse School was prompted by her involvement with swim lessons for the Small School. As the PE teacher, Sarah’s goal is to create a bridge between lessons learned inside the classroom and physical education. By promoting and demonstrating physical fitness concepts and social-emotional life skills, children will come out of PE with tools to take on many of life's challenges.
Beyond her involvement with Nantucket Lighthouse School, she works for the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club and is taking time to explore the island and what its residents can teach her.
What Nantucket Lighthouse School means to Sarah
“As a lifelong learner, the Nantucket Lighthouse School community, both staff and students, consistently provide opportunities for me to learn and grow. Education here truly feels like a collaboration between educator and learner.”
